Q: What is Verizon Skill Forward?
A: The Verizon Skill Forward program is part of the Citizen Verizon responsible business plan, with a goal to prepare 500K individuals for in-demand jobs by 2030. The collaboration between edX and Verizon is aimed at providing career-enhancing online courses focused on high-demand skills to facilitate long-term growth. Verizon strives to move the world forward for all people, in areas of digital inclusion, climate protection and human prosperity.

Q: Is this really free? Is my banking information (i.e. debit or credit card) needed to apply?
A: Skill Forward is free for any participant during the 12 months with the program. You will not be asked for your banking information or a payment by Verizon or edX at any time during the 12 months.
Q: Who is eligible for Verizon Skill Forward and how can I apply?
A: The program is open to all U.S. residents aged 17 and above. Applications can be submitted online through our dedicated portal: https://register.edx.org/verizon.
Q: Do I need to be a Verizon customer to apply for the program?
A: No. You do not need to be a Verizon customer to be eligible for and apply to Verizon Skill Forward.
Course Offerings
Q: What types of courses are offered?
A: We offer a wide range of professional certificate courses in fields like AI, technology, business, and more, focusing on skills that are in high demand in today's job market.
Q: Do programs in Verizon Skill Forward award certificates and/or certifications? Is there an additional cost for certificates?
A: Upon successful program completion, learners receive certificates that are recognized by various employers and institutions. The awarded certificates are included with your Verizon Skill Forward subscription.
Career Resources
Q: Does VSF offer career support services?
A: Learners will have access to the Career Engagement Network included in their subscription.
Application Status
A: There are only two key eligibility requirements for Verizon Skill Forward which are (1) you are above the age of 17 and (2) reside within the United States. If you are receiving a denial, be sure to check both of those areas on the application to ensure that you have filled them out correctly. If you received a denial, you will need to reapply with a new email address with your information that meets the requirements. https://register.edx.org/verizon.
Q: How soon after applying will I be able to access the portal and begin training?
A: An email with your confirmation and activation link will arrive 1-2 business days after application. (An intervening U.S. public holiday thus may result in a delay.) We also recommend checking within your email SPAM or junk folders.
Activation and Course Access
Q: How do I activate my Verizon Skill Forward subscription?
A: After applying, you'll receive an activation email. Follow the link provided to activate your subscription and access the courses. If you do not already have an edX account, you will click the “Accept my Invitation” and then click “Create an Account” using the email you applied with to sign up.
Q: I get a 404 error when trying to activate my Verizon Skill Forward subscription, how do I fix it?
A: The email on your edX account must match the email used for your Verizon Skill Forward application. If it does not match the email on your invitation, you can change the registered email on your existing edX account to match.
Q: If I miss a step in activating my Verizon Skill Forward subscription, can I reapply to the program?
A: Yes, you can reapply with a different email address if you do not activate your license before the expiration date
Q: I had a previous edX account that I deleted, can I register for Verizon Skill Forward with the same email address I previously used for that account?
A: You will need to use a different email address when applying and registering for Verizon Skill Forward.
If you deleted your edX account using the email address you used for your Verizon Skill Forward application after you applied, you will need to create a new edX account and register again for Verizon Skill Forward with that new email address.
