The proctoring software streams exam data, including audio and video, directly to the cloud as you take the exam. In order to allow the continuous transfer of exam data, you are required to maintain a minimum connection speed of 500kbps. You must ensure that your internet connectivity speed is stable and you must not close the browser. We recommend verifying your connection speed using an internet speed test before starting an exam.
If your connectivity drops
When connectivity speeds detectably drop below the acceptable threshold of 500kpbs, the browser will shut down automatically. If this happens, you will lose access to the exam and your proctoring session will be automatically submitted for review, and your exam will be submitted to edX. You will not be able to reconnect to the exam to complete any unanswered problems.
If you encounter a message that your webcam is no longer detected after beginning your exam, this is due to a drop in connectivity. Your network connection must return to or exceed the minimum requirements within 30 seconds or your exam will end.
What to do if you're disconnected
If you are ejected from the exam due to low or disrupted internet connection, or accidentally close the browser while taking the exam, contact edX Support for assistance. You can click Submit a request at the bottom of this page to reach Support.
