You can see the status of your ID verification on your edX dashboard. If your photos were denied, the reason for denial will be listed there.
The most common reasons for ID verification denials are:
- Missing a picture of the photo ID (you may have taken two photos of yourself)
- Text on the photo ID was unclear and couldn't be read by the reviewers
- The photo ID did not display both the name and photo on the same side
- A mismatch between the Full Name in your edX Account Settings and the name on your photo ID. These will need to match exactly (same first and last name, using the same characters and alphabet) in order for your photos to be approved. You can change the name on your edX account after your photos are approved in order to update the name on your certificate as you'd like it to be displayed.
