In April 2017, we made changes to the Course page (formerly the Home page) in edX courses to give you an expanded view of course content and an at-a-glance view of the complete course outline.
Expanded Course Content
Previously, when you were working in a course, you saw a condensed version of the course outline in the left pane of a course content page, and the course content in the right pane.
Now, the course outline is not visible when you are working on course content. Instead, the course content fills the entire width of the page. Above the navigation bar is a "breadcrumb" trail that indicates your position in the course outline and that includes links to the course outline on the Course page.
Any time you start or resume a course, the Course page opens. This page has information about your course, including updates, important dates, and the course outline. This page also has quick ways to jump directly to course content. To return to the unit you last completed in the course, select Resume Course at the top of the Course page.
In the course, to go to the Course page at any time, perform either of the following actions.
- On any unit page, select Course in the breadcrumb trail above the unit navigation bar.
- In the set of tabs above the breadcrumb trail, select Course.
The course outline is in the left pane of the Course page, under any course updates. The course outline shows all the sections (sometimes called modules or lessons) and units in your course, as well as any bookmarks that you have added.
To go to any part of the course, expand the section that you want in the course outline, and continue expanding the section until you find the unit that you want. Select the name of the unit to go to that page.
To expand all of the sections in the course outline at one time, select Expand All above the course outline.
